OUR STORY
The Bonicelli family has called Huerfano County home for over a century, with roots as deep as the valley’s oldest trees. For Jordan and Jenn Bonicelli, the mountains, the community, and the quiet rhythm of Cuchara have always been part of their story.
In 2021, they took a leap that had been in their hearts for years: purchasing the historic Cuchara Inn and beginning its
transformation into Cuchara Lokal. It wasn’t just about restoring a building—it was about creating a space where the beauty, simplicity, and soul of the valley could be shared with others.

Cuchara Lokal is the result of that vision: a place where locals feel proud, visitors feel welcome, and the character of Southern Colorado shines through every detail. For the Bonicellis, this is more than a business—it’s a love letter to the land and community they’ve always called home.
Once known as the Cuchara Inn, our property has been thoughtfully restored to blend rustic charm with modern comfort. More than just a place to stay, Cuchara Lokal is a reflection of the valley itself: warm, inviting, and grounded in our community.
